Nestled into the sloping landscape of Ivanhoe East, this project thoughtfully responds to the client’s brief for a contemporary family home with a powerful connection to its surrounds. Exploration of the connectivity between both the home and its landscape, and the interior and exterior spaces informed much of our design response.

Achieving harmony between the built form and nature
A tranquil space to observe the scenery. The main living spaces are almost understated; addressing the need from the clients for clean, highly functional, and beautiful spaces which will accommodate their family of seven whilst also not detracting from the beautifully framed landscapes that adorn each view.

A dramatic main entry and atrium space embodies the spine of the house and serves as a transitional space between the levels and main areas of the home. Contrasting the dark, structured atrium with the light, open living areas that branch off it achieves a sense of continuity between the interior and exterior spaces.
